1. About Promedour™
Promedour™ is a New Zealand-based International Medical Concierge supporting access to internationally accredited private healthcare providers.
We facilitate structured access to overseas medical services by coordinating information, logistics, and communication between clients and healthcare providers.
Our role is to ensure each case is appropriately organised, with clear coordination before travel and structured support upon return.
Promedour™ does not provide medical treatment or clinical services. All procedures are performed by credentialed specialists at accredited private healthcare institutions overseas.
Promedour™ does not operate as a general medical tourism platform or procedure marketplace.
Our service is structured, coordination-focused, and designed to support safe and organised access to private healthcare services overseas.
We:
- Conduct initial case coordination and information gathering
- Collect and collate relevant medical documentation
- Facilitate communication with GPs or specialists where appropriate (with patient consent)
- Coordinate structured international referral pathways
- Assist with post-treatment communication and follow-up coordination upon return to New Zealand
We collaborate with established private hospitals that hold internationally recognised accreditations and maintain strong clinical standards.
Our focus is on structure, coordination, and continuity of communication.

2. Why Malaysia?
Malaysia is internationally recognised for its modern healthcare system and internationally accredited private hospitals.
The country offers:
- English-speaking healthcare environments
- Advanced surgical and diagnostic technologies
- Efficient scheduling of medical procedures
- Strong healthcare governance frameworks
Malaysia is also known for being:
- Stable and well-developed
- Clean and modern
- Multiracial and culturally diverse
- Renowned for hospitality and cuisine
Kuala Lumpur is a modern international city offering excellent infrastructure, efficient transport systems and direct international flight access.
Favourable currency exchange rates may also provide cost advantages compared with similar procedures in New Zealand or Australia.
Many healthcare systems around the world, including New Zealand and Australia, are currently operating under significant pressure. Public hospitals often face extended waiting lists for elective procedures, while demand for specialist care continues to increase.
In some cases, access to certain procedures, specialist expertise or advanced medical technologies may be delayed due to system capacity and resource limitations. Private treatment locally can also be expensive, creating additional barriers for individuals seeking timely care.
For suitable patients, structured access to internationally accredited healthcare institutions overseas may offer an alternative pathway. This can allow procedures to be scheduled sooner, often with access to highly specialised surgeons, advanced medical technology and internationally recognised clinical standards.
Promedour’s role is not to replace local healthcare providers, but to offer a carefully coordinated international pathway for patients who may benefit from timely access to specialist treatment.

4. Clinical Process & Governance
Clients may engage with Promedour™ at any time. Our international healthcare partners perform procedures and health screening throughout the year except during national public holidays.
Our current average lead time from initial contact to confirmed surgical scheduling is approximately six weeks, depending on procedure type and medical review requirements.
Our coordination process may include:
- Collection and collation of relevant medical history and documentation
- Gathering of imaging and diagnostic reports (where available)
- Compilation of current medication information
- Coordination of communication with your GP or specialist (with your written consent)
This information is organised and provided to the selected overseas healthcare provider, who is responsible for all clinical review, assessment, and treatment decisions.
Yes.
With written consent, Promedour™ may obtain relevant clinical information from your GP or treating specialist to support appropriate referral and continuity of care.
Yes.
Promedour™ provides a GP & Specialist Referral Information document outlining our referral pathway and clinical coordination framework.
Promedour™ treats all client information with strict confidentiality and professionalism.
Personal and medical information shared with Promedour™ is used solely for the purpose of clinical review, treatment coordination and communication with relevant healthcare professionals involved in your care.
Where necessary, and with your consent, relevant medical information may be shared with:
- our NZ-based medical team for preliminary assessment
- your GP or specialist
- our partnered international healthcare providers
Promedour™ does not disclose client information to unrelated third parties and takes reasonable measures to ensure that all personal and medical data is handled securely.
All information is managed in accordance with applicable privacy and data protection standards. Promedour™ is committed to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and security of client information at all times.
5. Travel & Recovery
Length of stay varies depending on the procedure.
As a general guide:
- 5–7 days may be sufficient for straightforward procedures
- 10–14 days is often recommended for optimal recovery and follow-up
- Health screening packages are typically completed within one day
Final recommendations are provided by the treating surgeon.
Promedour™ supports coordination and communication following treatment overseas.
Upon return, clients receive a structured clinical summary from the treating hospital, which can be shared with their GP or local healthcare provider to support ongoing care.
Where appropriate, Promedour™ may provide a courtesy post-procedure check-in to assist with general wellbeing and coordination of next steps. This check-in is non-clinical and does not replace medical advice or assessment.
If further medical review is required, clients will be referred to their GP or appropriate healthcare provider in New Zealand.
Our team remains available to assist with coordination, communication, and general support as clients transition back to their local healthcare providers.
Ongoing medical care and long-term management remain the responsibility of the patient’s GP or treating specialist.
If additional investigations or procedures are recommended:
- Clients will be informed promptly
- Any additional costs will be clearly explained
- No additional procedures proceed without patient consent
Comprehensive medical travel insurance is strongly recommended for all international procedures.
6. Travel Arrangements
Promedour™ can assist in coordinating travel arrangements through trusted third-party providers.
This may include:
- International flights
- Hotel or serviced apartment accommodation
- Airport transfers
- Local ground transportation
Promedour™ may also assist in organising short recovery holiday packages, ranging from basic accommodation to luxury travel options, depending on individual preference.
Promedour™ is not a travel agency and all travel services remain subject to the terms and conditions of the respective providers.
Clients may also arrange their own travel if preferred.
Most nationalities do not require a visa for short stays of up to 90 days in Malaysia.
Travellers should confirm entry requirements based on their nationality.
Coverage for overseas medical procedures depends on the terms of your individual health insurance policy.
Some insurers may provide partial reimbursement for procedures performed overseas, while others may limit coverage to treatments carried out within your home country.
Clients are encouraged to review their insurance policy or speak directly with their insurance provider to confirm whether overseas procedures are eligible for reimbursement.
Where required, Promedour™ can provide supporting documentation such as treatment proposals or medical information to assist clients in discussions with their insurer.
Corporate clients or organisations exploring structured healthcare pathways for employees are also welcome to contact Promedour™ to discuss suitable arrangements.
7. Insurance
Yes. Promedour™ strongly recommends that clients obtain appropriate medical travel insurance before travelling overseas.
Insurance may assist with:
- travel disruptions
- medical complications
- extended recovery periods
- unexpected accommodation requirements
Clients remain responsible for ensuring that appropriate travel and insurance arrangements are in place before departure.
8. Fees
Promedour™ requires a Pre-Booking Fee once a client confirms their intention to proceed and coordination begins.
Pre-Booking Fees are:
- NZD $1,000 for Medical & Surgical Treatment Procedures
- NZD $300 for Health Screening Packages
This fee is credited toward the confirmed procedure or screening cost once arrangements are finalised.
The Pre-Booking Fee enables Promedour™ to begin:
- collection and collation of relevant medical documentation
- initial case coordination and information gathering
- engagement with hospital partners
- coordination of treatment options and proposals from providers
Administrative charges may apply if coordination progresses and a client later chooses not to proceed. Full details are outlined in the Terms & Conditions.
Promedour™’s role is to ensure each case is appropriately coordinated and prepared prior to confirming treatment arrangements.
International medical coordination requires preparation before procedures can be scheduled.
The Pre-Booking Fee confirms a client’s intention to proceed and allows hospitals to begin reviewing the case and reserving potential treatment dates.
All transactions are processed in New Zealand Dollars (NZD).
We accept:
- credit cards
- international bank transfer
- Afterpay
- Wise
- selected international currencies where applicable
No.
Each case is assessed individually based on procedure complexity, surgeon expertise and hospital accreditation.
9. Bariatric Surgery
Bariatric surgery is an established treatment option for individuals living with obesity and related metabolic conditions.
Weight-loss injections have recently become popular, but results can vary and long-term outcomes often depend on continued treatment.
For some individuals, the long-term cost of injections may exceed the cost of bariatric surgery.
Bariatric surgery may help improve:
- weight reduction
- Type 2 diabetes control
- hypertension
- sleep apnoea
- mobility and metabolic health
Patients should discuss the benefits and risks with their GP or specialist.
Promedour’s medical team can assist with preliminary consultation.
Recovery varies depending on the procedure.
Typical recovery includes:
- 2–3 days hospital stay
- light activity after 1–2 weeks
- return to normal routine within 3–4 weeks
10. Eligibility
Yes.
Many clients initially contact Promedour™ to explore whether international treatment options may be available for their situation.
Promedour™ can assist by coordinating the collection and collation of relevant medical information, including medical history, reports, and imaging, and facilitating communication with appropriate healthcare providers.
This information is then provided to the selected overseas healthcare provider, who is responsible for all clinical review, suitability assessment, and treatment decisions.
In some cases, additional clinical input may be required to support the coordination process. Where appropriate, Promedour™ may facilitate access to independent New Zealand registered medical or health practitioners to conduct a preliminary or post-operative assessment.
These practitioners operate independently and are responsible for any clinical services they provide. Any such assessments are arranged with the client’s consent and are subject to separate professional fees, which will be advised in advance.
Each case is considered individually by the treating specialist and hospital.
Promedour™ does not provide clinical advice or undertake medical assessments.
If you are uncertain whether your condition may be suitable, you are welcome to contact Promedour™ for a confidential discussion regarding the coordination process.
